Our Style Quiz Is Pretty Great (If We Do Say So Ourselves)

If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that finding your personal style isn’t easy. We’ve all managed to accumulate a closet *full* of clothes, yet still peek in and feel like we have nothing to wear. That’s exactly why we created Indyx, but more on that later.

What’s My Style?

I hate to tell you this, but there isn’t a single survey, quiz, or questionnaire out there that is going to be able to hand you the perfect answer in five minutes flat. Style is all about self-reflection and self-expression. Figuring out how to match your outsides to your insides, so to speak. And so, your personal style - what really feels like the real, authentic you - is something only you can answer with time and lots of practice.

That being said, there are some clear steps you can take to start to figure this out.

Enter: The Indyx Style Quiz

Our style quiz is the last one you’ll ever need to take because it’s the first step in a whole support system we’ve built to help you figure out your true personal style once-and-for-all.

Specifically, this style quiz was created to start to put language around your fashion aesthetic. We’re big believers in finding your three words, which is a personal style practice that many other fashion gurus including Amy Smilovic and Allison Bornstein also ascribe to.

But where to start? Pulling those three style words from thin air is overwhelming. Our style quiz is designed to give you a jump start, setting you up with three super-accurate style archetypes along with a customized word bank of potential style words so you can get a good working draft of your three words in just a few minutes.

And, you don’t have to take our word for it. Some pretty cool people love our quiz, like Avery Trufelman of the popular Articles of Interest fashion podcast. Here’s what she had to say about it:

“May I just say, I had no idea what my adjectives were and I was having a really hard time coming up with them. But a fun place you can figure those out is with this style app called Indyx. They have a quiz to help you figure out your three adjectives. This is apparently a thing a lot of style people believe in. You gotta have the three adjectives”

My own results? Classic, Minimalist, and Relaxed which honestly feels like a perfect match. For each archetype, the quiz also provides a shortlist of celebrities and brands that match that style which is super helpful.

If you’re ready to take the style quiz, all you have to do is download the Indyx app for free, available on iOS and Android. Just click those links or the big gleaming “GET THE APP” button at the top of your screen (on desktop).

What Else Can the Indyx App Do?

You might be thinking: why do I have to download a whole app just to take a dang style quiz!?

Well, the thing is that downloading the Indyx app will take you so much farther on your personal style journey than just a simple internet fashion style quiz.

After you take the quiz, I highly recommend you sign-up in the app for our free (!) Style Workshop - an 8 week course delivered to your inbox that walks you through step-by-step a more detailed process on how to find your style and create a plan to build a lasting wardrobe to match.

Joining the course also gives you access to a private Indyx Slack channel, where you can connect with like-minded folks all going through the same process and get advice from the Indyx team.

You can also use the app to digitize your entire closet, which I know may at first sound like a silly thing to do considering you 1. don’t know your style and 2. probably don’t think you like your current clothes all that much.

But trust me when I say that simply seeing all your items laid out on a little screen in the palm of your hand can give you *so* much clarity. You start seeing patterns you didn’t notice before - both in the things you do and don’t like - which is so, so critical in really figuring out your personal style.

We love what our friend, Heather (@pigmami) has to say about this:

You can also use the app to track what you really are and aren’t wearing and to calculate your cost-per-wear, which will take you to a whole new level of wardrobe insight.

Finally, digitizing your wardrobe will allow you to work 1:1 with one of our stylists, who can take a peek into your closet and style incredible outfits from the things you already own and even give a few personalized suggestions of what would be best to add. If you’re trying to figure out your style, there is nothing more valuable than the perspective of an expert. And, the Indyx app makes that possible and affordable. Digital styling starts at just $15 a month for our subscription service, The Feed, or about $100 for a one-off Lookbook.
